Introducing our new
Travel Recognition Incentive Program (BTCI-TRIP)
By Chris Hester (Atlanta) – TRIP Ambassador
What is it?
To encourage our members to visit our fellow chapters in other cities and to participate in their Casual Events and Formal Dinners as well as the annual Convergences, BCTI has implemented a new Traveler Recognition Incentive Program: BTCI-TRIP. This will be a new way to recognize and reward our members who do travel to the other cities where we have BTCI chapters and participate in these wonderful and rewarding events.
There are two levels of achievement in the program as follows:
Level 1 - Globetrotter
You have attended an event in 8 of the active chapters.
At least 5 visits need to be a Formal Dinner or Convergence.
Level 2 - Jet-Setter
You have attended an event in all active chapters.
At least 10 visits need to be a Formal Dinner or Convergence.
Once you have attended the required events in at least 8 of our active chapters, you will complete the BTCI-TRIP application for Level 1 – Globetrotter detailing the dates of attendance and submit it to BTCI.TRIP@gmail.com for verification. Then, once you have attended the required events in all active chapters (of which there are currently 16), you will complete the form for Level 2 – Jet-Setter and email it to the same email address. You can also request an application form by emailing BTCI.TRIP@gmail.com. Once attendance is verified, you will be inducted into the corresponding BTCI-TRIP Level. You will be awarded a TRIP lapel pin and recognized at the next Convergence and also be listed in the BTCI magazine. As a BTCI-TRIP member, you should be on the lookout for special perks and recognitions from BTCI such as: Recognition at Annual Convergences, Enamel Lapel Pin for your Level (Globetrotter or Jet-Setter), Special Cocktail Parties at Convergences, Recognition in the BTCI Magazine and on the BTCI website, and Discounts on Convergence Registrations.
This will be a fun new way to celebrate our chapters and meet new friends. Happy Travelling!
FAQ
A few questions have come up since the program was rolled out at the 2026 Convergence in Rehoboth Beach/Lewes, so here are the answers:
-
You may only count one visit per chapter towards the goals. If you visit a chapter three times, it still just counts as one chapter.
-
Special Travel Events (Amsterdam, Key West, etc.) will not count towards your goals. They are their own rewarding experiences.
-
You can count participation in your home chapter’s events toward both goals.
-
Attendance in chapters that have since disbanded do not count.
-
The program is retroactive so you can count any qualifying events from the past as long as you can remember when and where. So, dig out your scrapbooks and search your memory banks for those long ago experiences that you deserve credit for.
