Instructions for adding an event
to the calendar

1.  You first need to have been invited to add events to the BTCI calendar.  If you have not, contact lablacktieclub1@gmail.com.

2.  Once you have been invited and added the BTCI calendar, open your google calendar.  One way to do this is to enter google.com/calendar in the  address field at the top of your browser.  You DO NOT need a google account to have a google calendar.

3,  Otionally, in the "My calendars" and "Other calendars" sections located in the left pane, click off all calendars, if any, except BTCI (unless you want to see events from other calendars like your personal calendar).

4.  Optionally, you may want to change the view mode to "Month" (although any mode is fine).

5.  Click on the day in which you want to add the event.

6.  The Event Input Form will appear.  The form looks different on different computers but should contain the fields listed below.

7.  For the "Add title and time" field, please only enter the name of your Chapter (for example: Toronto).

8.  Update the end date and add times as needed (or mark it "All Day ").  Check that the Time Zone matches the time

zone of the event (it should default to the time zone you are working in, so be sure to change the time zone if you are creating an event not in your current time zone).

9. Optionally, complete the Add location field if desired.

10. Add a brief description such as "Fall Formal" and then something like "Contact FirstName LastName at ChapterPresident@hisemail.com for more information." or "For more information, click here."

11. You will want to create a link for the email or "here" listed in the previous bullet.  To do so, highlight the email address or the word "here" and select the chain (link) icon.  For the email case, it should automatically create a link to the email.  For "here," you wil be promptd to enter the address of the webpage containing the your events information.

12.  Be sure that the calendar is set to BCTI!  If the calendar field does not say BCTI (by default it goes to your "main" calendar), select the calendar name and a drop down should give you the option to change it to BCTI.

13.  Select Save to add the event to the BCTI calendar.  It should appear in your calendar; examples are shown on June 28.
